"This paper outlines options for rural communities to participate in climate change mitigation and adaptation activities in the forest sector in Nepal. We look at the various institutional barriers that would need to be overcome, as well as the existing institutional opportunities, particularly in relation to tenure rights."

Afghanistan has been inhabited for many thousands of years. Known today for its exports of carpets and dried fruit, the country has served humanity as a vibrant continental crossroads and a hub of culture and trade. Its environment has been a source of great natural wealth – from precious minerals to life sustaining agricultural and forest products, representing a wide variety of traditional livelihood opportunities for its people. These opportunities, however, were shattered by nearly thirty years of civil war, international conflict and occupation. The resulting instability has brought widespread insecurity, displacement, poverty, and environmental devastation. It has eroded the rule of law and undermined structures of governance. The United Nations Environment Program took on the task of assessing the environmental impacts of the war on people’s lives, livelihoods and security, and recommended ways to address these issues during the reconstruction process.

- 125 s. Problemene oppstår i kortere tekster.

14 Challenges when shaping capabilities for research : Swedish support to bilateral research cooperation with Sri Lanka and Vietnam, 1976–2006, and a look ahead / Jan Annerstedt, Shantha Liyanage. - Stockholm : Sida, 2008. - 114 p. (Sida evaluation ; 2008:14) The study summarizes challenges, experiences and achievements during 30 years of bilateral research collaboration between Sweden and Sri Lanka and between Sweden and Vietnam, respectively. The two collaborations both started in 1976 and has since then been financed from Swedish international development cooperation resources. The study shows several types of long-term impacts of the collaboration. A number of suggestions are made on how to reorient and change focus of possible future research collaboration between Sweden and the two countries after the Swedish bilateral development cooperation has been phased out in 2011.

38 North is a website devoted to analysis of North Korea. While it strives to break new ground, the site’s main objective is to bring the best possible analysis to all those who work on North Korea for a living and those who are just interested in what happens there. Too often analysis of the North is permeated by inexperience, littered with inaccurate information or grounded in just plain bad deductive reasoning. We believe no one really knows for sure what is going on in North Korea but we can at least try to understand the possibilities. And anyone who professes certainty should be viewed with the greatest skepticism.
